I wrote this article because every day I am reading posts of people getting scammed in Axie Infinity Facebook groups. Victims are losing tens of thousands of Philippine pesos. Here are 6 tips on how to protect your expensive Axies from hackers and scammers.
1. Only Use Legit Axie Infinity and Wallet websites
Phishing is one of the main causes of how players are getting hacked. Phishing websites are fake websites that look exactly the same as the original Axie Infinity website. What you can do to check if the website you accessed is real or fake is by looking at the spelling of the URL.
The only legit Axie Infinity website is axieinfinity.com. You need to be very careful because sometimes you may think that the spelling is correct but it’s actually not. One wrong letter in the word axieinfinity will lead you to a different website. For example, on the hacker’s website, the letter i is changed to letter L but lower case so they look the same. I hope you got the point.

To get the legit links of Ronin and Metamask Wallets, go to this link: https://marketplace.axieinfinity.com/login and click on “Login with Ronin Wallet”, then you will be redirected to the Ronin Chrome Extension. Download the extension then create an account.
Same with Metamask Wallet, go back to https://marketplace.axieinfinity.com/login and click “Login with Metamask”. You will be redirected to Metamask Chrome Extension. Download the extension then create an account.
*Do not click on websites that you found on google search or links that random people sent you via Facebook. There’s a very high chance that those websites are phishing sites (fake websites that copied the original site to make them look legit).
Ronin and Metamask extensions only work on Google Chrome and Firefox browsers, here are the download links if you don’t have one yet.

This is a phishing website that supposedly gives free 2000 SLP but when you try to claim it, it will ask for your seedphrase. Once you enter your seed phrase on this website, the hacker can now gift your axies and slps to their own account.
You can see in the URL of this fake site that axieinfinity is spelled incorrectly and it is not a .com, the legit Axie Infinity website is axieinfinity.com
2. Only Buy Axies in the Axie Infinity Marketplace as Much as Possible
The reason why people want to buy from other people is that they don’t want to go through so many steps to buy Axie. They want the easy which is to pay and get their Axies immediately, this is why hundreds of people are getting scammed. You can do this but we highly advise that you only buy Axies from people you actually know personally.
Here’s the traditional way of buying Axie by the way for those who are looking for the step by step guide:
- Create a coins.ph or Binance account.
- Verify your coins.ph or Binance account before you can cashin.
- Deposit money to your Coins.ph or Binance account.
- Open your coins.ph or Binance account and convert your funds from PHP to ETH.
- Create a Ronin and Metamask Wallet.
- Login to Axie Infinity Marketplace using your Ronin.
- Add email and password for your Axie Infinity Marketplace account. Open your email and verify.
- Link your metamask account to your Axie Infinity Marketplace account.
- Transfer your money from Coins.ph/Binance to Metamask.
- Transfer your money from Metamask to Ronin (using Ronin Bridge).
- Go to Axie Infinity Marketplace and buy your Axies.
Another reason why people prefer buying directly from other people is they don’t know how to pick good Axies. What you can do is find friends or people who you know personally and ask help from them. Do not ask help from people you only met online, this is how you get hacked or scammed.
3. Do Not Give your Ronin and Metamask Seed Phrase to Anyone
It is very important to keep your Ronin and Metamask Seedphrase/Secret Recovery Phrase safe. If someone got a copy of those, they can easily steal your Axies and your hard-earned SLP.
Never send your seed phrase to anyone. Also, beware of SLP or AXS giveaway websites that ask for your seed phrase, those sites are 100% made by hackers.
It is best to write your Ronin and Metamask seed phrase in a notebook and hide it. Putting your seed phrases on a notepad and saving them on your PC is pretty unsafe because they can be stolen by hackers.
4. Install and Update Your Antivirus Software
If you don’t have an updated Anti Virus software on your computer, there’s a chance that you might have downloaded malware that can steal info from your PC.

On every action that you do with your Axie account, you need to confirm it with your Trezor wallet. The value of your assets depends on how well the company does.
Only invest in Axie Infinity if you still have plenty of money left after you purchase a team. Only invest in Axie Infinity if you have big savings in the bank. This is important so you won’t be stressed or worst depressed when the price of SLP goes down, you got hacked/scammed, or Axie Infinity is no longer profitable.
I’ve seen so many cases of people who used all their money to buy an Axie team and got hacked, now they are begging for money on Facebook groups. Never ever use all your money or loan money from your relatives to buy Axie.
